Becoming Energetically Aware: Learning to Trust What You Feel

Welcome back to another episode of Meaningful Moments with Mai, where we explore the profound journey of self-awareness and trust. Today, we’re diving into the importance of energetic awareness and how to reconnect with that quiet voice within you. Let’s embark on this journey together.

The Quest for Self-Trust

Many of us have been conditioned to look outside ourselves for answers. From a young age, we’re taught to trust authority figures, experts, and societal expectations. While there’s value in external guidance, this reliance can lead us to lose connection with our own inner compass.

Have you ever found yourself questioning your feelings? You might ask, “Am I overreacting? Is this just my imagination?” Over time, such doubts can drown out your intuition, making your inner voice feel faint and distant. It’s crucial to remember that intuition is often subtle, a whisper amidst the clamor of fear and uncertainty.

Understanding Intuition vs. Fear

Intuition is not the dramatic voice we often expect; it’s a gentle knowing, a nudge, or even a feeling in your body. It can manifest as a sense of peace or an inexplicable urge to follow a certain path. On the other hand, fear is loud and demanding, urging you for certainty and often spiraling into anxiety. It tells stories that can cloud your judgment, making it essential to discern between the two.

What does your intuition feel like? This is a personal experience that varies for everyone. Some might feel it as a warmth in their chest, while others may experience a sense of ease or clarity. The key is not to compare your experience with others but to cultivate familiarity with your unique signals.

The Role of the Body in Intuition

Your body serves as an incredible messenger, constantly providing cues about your emotional state. Notice when you feel relaxed or tense, when you feel energized or drained. These sensations can guide your understanding of your own energetic field.

Awareness requires presence. Often, we dismiss feelings because we cannot explain them. But remember, not everything meaningful can be quantified. Love, grief, joy—these emotions are felt deeply, even if they aren’t always seen. Trust begins when we allow ourselves to explore these feelings without judgment.

Practicing Energetic Awareness

So how do we cultivate this practice of energetic awareness? One simple yet powerful technique comes into play during decision-making moments. When you’re faced with a choice, pause. Take a few slow, grounding breaths. Place your hand on your heart and ask yourself, “What feels most aligned right now?”

Don’t rush for an answer. Instead, listen to your body. What sensations arise? What feels expansive? What feels constricted? Awareness often reveals more than overthinking ever could.

Reflecting on Your Inner Knowing

Let’s take a moment for reflection. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose, exhaling slowly through your mouth. Allow yourself to settle and gently ask:

- Where have I been ignoring my inner knowing?

- When have I sensed something before I could articulate it?

- What signals does my body send me?

- What might change if I trusted myself a little more?

Just listen. Trust the process. Each time you pause, listen, and honor your experiences, you deepen your relationship with yourself.

Building a Foundation of Self-Trust

Remember, your intuition is not something you need to create. It’s already within you, waiting to be heard beneath the noise of fear and conditioning. Every moment you take to pause and listen strengthens your self-trust, which is the foundation of a meaningful life.
